The Academic year 2016-17 saw many milestones of excellent achievements in Academics, Co-Curricular Activities, Sports & Games which aimed at improving the quality education and all round development of the students.


      The vidyalaya achieved 100% pass both in X and XII examinations.  During the year, 86 students  appeared in AISSE (62 internal and 24 external). 34 students obtained A-I Grade in all subjects . The average grade point(Cumulative Grade Point) in our vidyalaya was 9.45 out of possible 10, which is the highest in the Hyderabad Region.

     In class XII,  all the 40 students  passed, out of which 14 students secured Distinction and all  the remaining First classes. Kum. Manjima MR topped with 472 marks followed by Master Sijo  P Sasi with 471 and  Master Ajay Krishnan with 470 marks. Kumari Manjima  MR got selected for the training programme under Dakshina Foundation and is presently pursuing her IIT coaching in Pune.

The Scheme of  Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation is effectively implemented in other classes on the lines of the instructions from CBSE. RE-OPENING AFTER SUMMER VACATION : 31.05.2017 AT 4 PM

 Academic Inspection of the vidyalaya was conducted from 16.11.2016 to 17.12.2016 by a team led by Smt, Anusuya, Assistant Commissioner, NVS,RO, Hyderabad.


       Though the vidyalaya does not have a proper play ground, the performance of the students in Sports has been remarkable.  Inter house competitions in various disciplines had been conducted. In the NVS Sports  & Games Meet, 17 Boys and 28 girls got selected for the Regional Level meet in various disciplines like Volleyball, Badminton, Chess & Cricket.  Our team  was the runner up in the Girls under 17 category in Volleyball.   The team comprising Master Ganga Neeraj,Class XI and Master Madhav  JR of Class XII   became runner up in Badminton in under 17 Boys category.   I feel proud to state that seven of our girls- Kum Harsha of Class XI, Ku. Anjitha M Chandran, Kum. Manasamithra, BS, Kum. Asna Muhammed and Kum. Anna Jose of Class IX, Kum. Ammu, JB and Kum. Shivananda of Class VII represented the region in the National Level Volleyball Meet in different age groups.    The year long sports activities culminated in the Annual Athletic meet held on 02.01.2017.  Smt. Geetha Sudhakaran, Municipal Chairperson, Kottarakara was the chief guest of the Closing ceremony.

The Rehabilitation Plantations Limited has sanctioned a Building with a budget of Rs.8 lakh as part of its CSR activities to accommodate Jr. Science Lab.    Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed and the construction is expected to start soon.


    One of the declared objectives of the samiti is to promote national integration among the children. A major step in this direction is the scheme of migration. Under this scheme, 30 % of the strength of 9th class is exchanged with a JNV of Hindi speaking area. These students are selected through lot and they will study one year in the concerned vidyalaya.  This provides them with an opportunity to come closer to the culture and living conditions of the area where they are migrated.  Our vidyalaya is linked with JNV/Betul in Madhyapradesh.  During the year, we have 23 students from JNV/Betul.


In the Navodaya Scheme, Co curricular activities assume paramount importance.

An action plan for CCA has been chalked out.  Apart from inter house competitions, the vidyalaya undertook a number of programmes  celebrating World Environment day, Yoga Day, Vayana Dinam, Population Day, International Day against  Drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Independence Day, Sreekrishna Jayanthi, Hindi Fortnight, Gandhi Jayanthi, Vigilance awareness week, Rashtriya Ekta Divas, Raksha Bandan, National Education Day, Childrens day, National Book Week, Constitution Day,  Christmas.  The Swatch Bharat Abhiyan has been implemented and various programmes conducted through out the year.  The students also participated in various programmes and competitions organized by the Samiti and other agencies. The following need special mention:

1.      19 of our students got Scholarship and cash prize of Rs.500 each In the Talir Vayana Matsaram

2.      The programme Azadi at 70 was celebrated in a befitting manner. The Students and teachers visited Shri Chulur Bhaskaran Nair, Freedom fighter  and  honoured him.  

3.      Masters,, Cyril Mammen Varghese, Aromal  A and Kum. Avani  MR of class XI , kum. Kavya RK and Master  N. Devanand of class X represented the vidyalaya in the Maths Olympiad held at JNV/Kottayam on 04.09.2016

4.      Master  Akshay VS and Kum Akhila  GS of class XI, Masters Vidhu B and Athul Krishnan R of class X, Master Akshay  A & Master Jiju  M Santhosh of class VIII participated in the National Children’s Science at JNV/Palghat from 09.11.2016 to 10.11.2016

5.      Kum. Avani MR,Class XI participated in the Regional Science Congress held from 1.12.2016 to 05.12.2016 at JNV/ Bangalore

6.      Kumari Avani, MR and Master Aromal  R of class XI participated in the National Level Competitions on Creative Writing and Painting respectively conducted by the NCERT Under Adolescence Education programme

7.      Kumari Devi Nandana  V of Class IX participated in the National Youth Festival in Poster Making conducted under Adolescence Educational programme at  New Delhi from 05. 12.2016 to 08.12.2016.

Bagged overall championship in Republic Day Competitions 2017 organised by District Administration.



     The NCC troop consists of 50 cadets – 27 JD and 23 JW.  18 cadets participated  in the Annual Training Camp held at SMHSS. Kollam from 23.12.2016 to 01.01.2017.   Parades are conducted on all Fridays from 2.15 PM to 6 PM.




    Scouts and Guides units, each comprising 32 students each, are functioning in the vidyalaya. During the year under report, these units undertook a number of programmes as envisaged by the Scouts and Guides movement.




   Under the Adolescence Education Programme, the vidyalaya undertook a number of awareness programmes, counseling etc.




    A number of programming on Health awareness were conducted in the vidyalaya during the period under report. The following activities deserve special mention:

    1.  Homeo Medical camp on 23.06.2016 on General and Preventive Medicines

    2   Distribution of Folic Acid and Vitamin tablets on 04.11.2016,

         11.11.2016 & 30.11.2016

    3.  Celebration of  De worming Day on 10,08.2016 and distribution of 

         De worming tablets to all the classes.



The Museum Corner developed in the vidyalaya has a good collection of  items of antique value.   The Museum corner is developed with a view to provide the children  an insight into the rich tradition, life style and history of the nation. Rs.10,000.00 is allocated every year for the development of the museum corner.



     The vidyalaya has taken effective steps in implementing  the constitutional provision for promotion of Rajbhasha Hindi. Hindi fortnight was celebrated in the vidyalaya from 14.09.2016 to 28.09.2016 with various programmes.  The vidyalaya is also an active member of the Town Official Language  implementation Committee, Kollam.



    The Parent Teacher Council  has been actively involved in all the activities of the vidyalaya.  The General Body meeting of the PTC was held on  10.09.2016. The PTC is rendering creative support  in all our endeavours.       



      The Alumni Association is very active and has taken keen interest in the activities of the vidyalaya.  During the year under report, a medical camp and seminar on Basic Life Support, Nutrition and personal hygiene 02.10.2016.  The alumni meet was conducted on 18.12.2016.

     With a heavy heart, I also report the sad and  untimely death of our colleague Shri G. Rajan, Chowkidar on 26.11.2016.  He rendered 21 years selfless service.

     During the year 2016-17, the vidyalaya has been very fortunate to get benevolent support from various quarters.  Our Chair person Ms  Mithra  T , IAS has inspired  us in all our endeavours.  Shri Kodikkunnil Suresh MP, Shri K. Somaprasad, MP, Smt. Aisha Potty, MLA, Smt. Geetha Sudhakaran, Chairperson, Kottarakara Municipal Council, Shri D. Ramakrishna Pillai, Councillor, Kottarakara, Shri KN Balagopal, Ex MP, other public representatives, leaders  of political parties, public personalities – all had extended their kind patronage to the vidyalaya.   We look forward to their continued  blessings in future also.   I also remember and thank all our well wishers and patrons for their unstinted cooperation.  Let me also express our sincere gratitude to the members of  Vidyalaya Management Committee, Vidyalaya Advisory Committee, Vidyalaya Purchase Advisory Committee, our students – old and present, parents, Staff  and Samiti Officers for their wholehearted  co operation.  With the blessings of all, we will continue to strive hard and achieve the lofty objectives of the Samiti.
